Join us for a poetry celebration!

 

Rize Cole, author of the book, Voices Rizing, will read from this collection, and also from her newly released CD, Spirit Voices Rizing.  Ms. Cole's poems have appeared in numerous literary publications, including The New Review, Pathway to Light, Caribbean Impressions, and Poetry.com.  Her poem, "Planting Time," won an award from the literary journal, Time Lapse.  Ms. Cole is a frequent reader at poetry events around the country.

Kay Day, author of the book, Perfect Words, will read from her collection.  Day's work has appeared in many print and online publications such as ByLine, Pif, and The Fairfield Review, and her poetry has been read on National Public Radio's Theme & Variations.  Day is the editor of the Poetry topic at suite101.com.  She has presented at a number of conferences and workshops.

Dinah Johnson is a children's book writer who teaches at the University of South Carolina.  Her area of specialization is the history of African-American children's literature.  She is the author of the books, All Around Town:  the Photographs of Richard Samuel Roberts, Sunday Week, Quinnie Blue, and Sitting Pretty:  A Celebration of Black Dolls
